2.5.1.6 Panel

This is an informal conversation before an audience by a selected group of persons under a mediator. The panel members usually sit in a semi-circular manner to see each other and face the audience. The leaders introduce the topic and put some questions. The special advantage of this type is the spontaneous conversation about the topic with more interest than lecture.

There are three types of panel: 1. Question-Answer Panel - in which the presentation is actually a series of questions by the leader and answer by members. 2. Set speech panel – in which members deliver the speech and 3. Conversational panel – in which members hold conversation among themselves on the topic, with questions and comments going from one member to another. The moderator should work as an organizer of panel discussion. He must allow the participation of the group members in the discussion and at the end he must summarise the entire proceedings.
