2.6.2 Campaign

Campaign is an intensive teaching activity that has been undertaken for short duration, may be for one or two weeks covering a large number of groups; attention is focused on specialized problem for securing maximum interest and action on the part of local people for solving it. The purposes may be securing favourable attitude for adoption of innovations and to solve problems of the community as a whole with people's is participation.

An educational campaign is a well organized plan for bringing about widespread adoption of a particular practice. It is a continued teaching effort concentrated into a set period of time. The central idea is that a better practice is kept before the people constantly during that time. People are shown repeatedly that this is the solution to the problem. The more often people exposed to a new idea, the more likely they adopt it. In a campaign, people have their attention focused on a new practice through many methods. Through this method, the maximum number of farmers can be reached in the shortest possible time. It builds up community confidence and involves the people emotionally in a programme. For effective use of this method, a campaign has to be planned well, meticulously conducted with the participation of the local community and a good deal of follow-up measures have to be taken out to make it a success. eg: Road safety compaign, campaign for adoption of suitable variation during a particular seasons.
