Venous system

VENOUS SYSTEM

  • The sinus venosus receives venous blood from the different part of the body through pair Cuvierian duct and single hepatic vein. The Cuvierian duct receives venous blood through right superior jugular, right subclaivan, inferior jugular and right posterior cardinal veins.

Hepatic vein

  • It collects blood from the liver. The hepatic vein receives blood from the muscle and skin through pair of right and left anterior lateral cutaneous veins. It has following branches
    • External mandibular vein
    • Internal or sub mandibular vein
    • Common median mandibular vein
    • Barnchiostegal vein
    • Pharyngeal vein

Subclavin vein

  • It collects blood from the pectoral girdle and thin muscle

Posterior cardinal vein

  • It is the large vein run posteriorly on the right side of the body and receives following branches
    • Caudal vein
    • Rectal vein
    • Post cardinal vein
    • Parietal vein
    • Renal vein
    • Inter renal vein

Hepatic portal system

  • The vein from the stomach and intestine discharge venous blood into the cardiac portal vein. In the liver the portal vein give rise to innumerable sinusoidals that facilitated transfer of dissolved food substance to the liver tissue. The branches are
    • Gasteric vein
    • Spleenic vein
    • Cystic vein
    • Dorsal Intestinal vein
    • Ventral intestinal vein
    • Pancreatic vein
    • Posterior cutaneous vein

Cepatic veins

  • The blood from the head region is collected through a pair of large paired superior jugular vein. Several veins open into each superior jugular vein, which opens into Cuvierian duct. Its branches are
    • Maxillary vein
    • Supraorbital vein
    • Lateral jugular sinus
    • Pituitary sinus and
    • Hyoidean vein
