BODY CAVITY

  • The spaces between the gut and body wall are almostly occupied by the muscles and organs with blood containing interspaces. These spaces together form the body cavity or haemocoel, which is not a true coelom as it is not lined by the mesodermal epithelium. However, greatly reduced true coelom exists in the kidneys (nephrocoel) and genital organs (gonocoel)
