2.2.3.3. Fraction collectors
Separated components are collected by placing a series of tubes under the outlet of the column and an equal amounts of samples are collected in each tube. Sophisticated equipments use a fraction collector for the collection of samples from the column out flow automatically. The sample falls as drops into a collecting tube for a period of time, after which a new tube is mechanically moved into place. Fraction collectors are circular with the liquid dispensing arm traveling in a concentric path. |
