2.7.2.3. Sample Injection System

Sample is drawn with a syringe and injected into the injector port. Injection port consists of an injection valve and a sample loop. The loop is made of metal and can hold a fixed small volume of sample(1 μl - 100 μl). Rotation of the valve opens the loop and inject the sample into the stream of the mobile phase. Operation of the sample loop is shown as an animation in Fig 2.7.1. An autosampler in an injection device that injects the sample automatically in volumes of 1 μL to 1 mL.
