2.4.8. Applications

The application of this technique is limited based to the availability of immobilized ligand. Some of them include

  1. Purification of many enzymes, proteins, receptor proteins and immunoglobulins.
  2. Isolation of messenger RNA by selective hybridization of poly U –Sepharose 4B by exploiting its poly (U) tail.
  3. Isolation of complementary RNA and DNA by immobilized single stranded DNA
  4. Isolation of proteins involved in nucleic acid metabolism by immobilized nucleotides
