Thin layer chromatography is used to identify compounds present in a given mixture, to determine the purity of a substance and to monitor the progress of a reaction. Some of the specific applications include:

  • Determination of the plant components
  • Analysis of cereamides and fatty acids
  • Detection of pesticides or insecticides in food and water
  • Analysis of the dye composition of fibers in forensics
  • Analysis of the radiochemical purity of radiopharmaceuticals
