5.2.16 Splitting Columns

Text in a page can be spitted into several columns using format menu.

  1. Select Column option in Format menu
  2. Select the desired number of columns
  3. If needed, specify the spacing between the columns

Bullets and Numbering : Numbers or Bullets (Small dot or other symbols) can be automatically inserted to the paragraphs using Bullets and Numbering option in Format menu. We can change the format of the numbers and bullets as desired.

Borders and Shadings : Border can be drawn around the paragraphs using Border and Shading option in Format menu. We can select the border width, shadows, colours of the borders etc. Shading can be also given to the text with different colours.

Placing page breaks : Word processor will automatically insert a page break, when a page ends and the text following by it will be placed in next page. Such type of page break is known as Soft break which can be deleted by the user. The user can insert a page break by selecting Break option in Insert menu or pressing Ctrl Enter. The page break inserted by the user is known as Hard Break which can be deleted by the user.
