Lesson 15 : Fitting

Small arm

If a sleeve needs to be made narrower, it is not advisable to fold out all the width on the centre line as this would make the crown of the sleeve too narrow. Instead, fold out half of the width on the centre line and cut off the remainder from the side seams, tapering to the wrist. For instance: to narrow sleeve I" (2.5cm), fold out W' (l3mm) on the centre line and cut 1/4" (6mm) from each side seam. As shown on the previous page, the sleeve may be narrowed from crown to wrist or the wrist may main the same size.

Re-position the back and front arm lines correctly, keeping them parallel to the centre line.
