This defect is found in narrow trousers which are too long at the front, causing unsightly folds on the front crease line above the ankle. Trousers which have a hem width of 20" (50.8cm) or more can be cut straight across at the hem as they are wide enough to fall over the shoe, but narrower trousers need to be curved up at the front.
Mark the crease line in the centre of the leg on the pattern and curve the front hem line up smoothly, keeping the same length at the side seams.
Curve the back hem line down slightly to give the trousers an attractive line when viewed from the side, and to cover the heel of the shoe.
