Tight creases from top of the inside leg seam indicate that the crotch is too high for the figure.

Re-measure the figure to find the amount of extra length needed and lower the centre line as shown, curving smoothly into the original line. It may be necessary to widen the top of the leg slightly as it has been made narrower by lowering the crotch. Alter the front and back patterns in the same way.

This defect is simple to remedy but the reverse defect, that of the crotch being too low, is more difficult unless there are wide seam allowances on the centre seams. If the seam allowances are insufficient, the trousers may be lifted from the waist but this will reduce the total length.
