4.1.1.2 Family : Parapsylorhynchidae

  1. Body spindle – shaped with the ventral surface flat
  2. Head short, compressed with the operculum pointed and narrow
  3. Mouth very small, inferior
  4. Lower jaw with sharp edges with its lips prominent with a callous thickening behind it
  5. Barbels a single rostral pair only
  6. Eyes fairly prominent , lateral in position and visible from below ventral surface
  7. Anal fin with 5 branched rays.
  8. Dorsal fin inserted opposite to pelvic fins with 8 branched rays
 

It consist of only one genus with 3 speices

 

1. Parapsilorhynchus discophorus

3. P. tentaculatus
