4.2.16 Symphysdon discus
Family: Cichlidae Genus: Symphysodon English name: Discus Origin: The Amazon region Size: Maximum 15 cm Habitat: Found in still waters with overhanging vegetation Shape, coloring and markings: The body shape is virtually identical to that of S. Iaequifasciata Iawqyufascuata, but slightly longer. The basic coloration is reddish-brown. Nine dark. Vertical transverse bands lie across the body and all are usually clearly visible. A pattern of bluish-green, iridescent horizontal lines is red-edged dorsal fin and the anal fin are reddish-brown. The red ventral fins are elongated and taper to a point. There are no known external sexual characteristics. |
