4.2.37 Nannobrycon Unifasciatus
Family: Hemiodotidae Genus: Namobrycon English name: One-line Pencil fish Origin: Size: 6.5 cm Habitat: Found along the banks of shallow waters overgrown with reeds and grasses. Shape, coloring and markings: The body is slim and torpedo shaped. The basic coloration is yellow to golden brown. A brown to black longitudinal line runs back from the snout across the eye into the caudal peduncle. Above this line there is a zone of yellow or gold. The scales on the upper half of the body have dark edges. The belly is a light yellow to silver white. The caudal fin is red at the base, and darker on the lower lobe. The dorsal fin a red patch flecked with ice blue spots. There is a red gold patch on the head. Females have anal fins and are a more brilliant red. |
