Family: Centropomidae Genus : Chanda English name: Indian Glassfish Origin Eastern Size: Maximum 6 cm Habitat: Found mainly in coastal areas, in both fresh and brackish water Shape, coloring and markings: The body is rather stocky, relatively deep and laterally very compressed. The dorsal anal and ventral fins are divided into two parts: the front part has only hard but the others are soft. The caudal fin is fairly deeply forked. The entire body is glassy and transparent, with irregular black flecks and under bright light and iridescent bluish green, golden sheen. The fins are yellowish: the dorsal and anal fins have sky blue borders. Females are less vividly colored Males are as described above. |
