4.2.31 Corydoras aeneus
Family: Callichthyidae Genus: Corydoras English name: Bornze Catfish Origin: Size: Maximum 7 cm Habitat: Found in sluggish creeks with clear water. Shape, coloring and markings: The body is stocky with a soluble row of bony plates with a double row of bony plates which overlap. The mouth is small upper-positioned and with three pairs of barbells. The basic coloration is yellowish or a soft reddish brown with, on the head and flanks, a stroking metallic sheen which depending on how the light catches it green or a shiny iridescent gold. A dark wedge shaped patch lies on the shoulders. The fins are unmarked. Females are sturdier and larger, with a more rounded dorsal fin. Males are smaller with a more pointed dorsal fin. |
