Shape, coloring and markings:

The body shape closely resembles that of C.chuna. The basic coloration is a gleaming gold to deep red. The throat and belly are an iridescent dark blue. Several red irregular transverse stripes run across the flanks. The ventral fins are orange-red: the dorsal, anal and caudal fins are red with sky blue flecks.

Females are more golden with fewer blue flecks. The dorsal and anal fins are rounded.

Males have tapered dorsal and anal fins.
